IAA Frankfurt Auto Show Car
#6 Pre-production Proto-type

Rare U.S. Spec.
Only 1,900 Miles
Nart Blue with Cognac Interior

This unique 2001 Ferrari 550 Barchetta began its life on September 11, 2001, where it was displayed for the first time at the opening of the IAA Frankfurt Auto Show at the Pininfarina stand.  The September 11th terror attack on the World Trade Center cast a shadow over the auto show that year.  All show elements and loud music, typical of the annual auto show were cancelled as well as the opening ceremony with the Federal Chancellor.  As a show of solidarity the auto show continued on quietly with more than 800,000 people visiting this unique and historic IAA Frankfurt Auto Show.

This pre-production car was then sold to the owner of Ferrari of Milan who was also an accomplished Ferrari racer and close friend of the factory.  This was believed to be the first 550 Barchetta sold to the public.  The vehicle was later purchased by well-known Ferrari authority, Michael Sheehan and brought to the United States for a California collector in 2003 with 97 original miles.  The car was crated and flown on an airplane from Luxemburg to San Francisco.

The vehicle was then sold in 2008 to another collector in California with 848 miles.  Truban Motor Company has now purchased this excellent example with only 1,907 original miles.  Truban Motor Company has had the vehicle fully serviced including its major service, new tires, etc.  This vehicle is ready to drive and show at any major concours.
